Amp under passenger seat question

Where have you grounded your amps to when fitted under the seat? I think I can just about fit my Rockford 400a4 under the passenger
seat with a bit of bracketing and would like to use a grounding point thats already there rather than make a new one.

The only area I could see, was under the seat on the left hand side where there is a small black plastic connector type thing attached to the bodywork by two nuts.

Does anyone know what this is for? And more importantly, has anyone used it for grounding there amps?

Cheers, Andy

I grounded my amp on the connection of the seat belt to the chassis. Just make sure it gets a good clean metal contact and do the bolt back up tightly!

When you remove the samll plastic holder/tray from under the seat I used the screw hole for that to earth . Just polished it up with a light grinder and its fine. It also means a very short earth lead!

In answer to your question yes I did see the thing you mean. I didnt think it was a connector but thought it might be the side impact sensor for the airbags so stayed well away from it!

Good point. Probably best not to mess with that.

Not sure what you mean by the plastic tray thing? Its just carpet under my seat.

the plastic tray thing is the useless piece of trash that they stuck under the passenger seat that you can remove by undoing one screw at the front. Just about large enough to hold 2 cans of coke.

Is this the only amp your gonna have in your car? If you gonna have multiple amps I would strongly advise against grounding them to different points, Id recomend running the ground cables to a distribution block and then grounding this with a suitable large guage cable, thus your amps are star earthed and you wont have any ground loops or grounds of different pontential, this will help improve the SQ and will help eliminate any buzzing.,
