amping standard stereo

As you probably know the standard 172 head unit has no pre outs so you cant connect an amplifier unless it has HI-level inputs(speakers inputs). just thought this speaker-pre out converter on ebay may be of interest to some of you.with amps with no hi level input

some amps allow you to use the speaker wire to connect the amp. However even if its just a cheap head unit, GET A NEW ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

really would recommend buying a new head unit before you look at upgrading anything else. You never know, you may be satisifed with the sound improvement you will get from a better hu (4x50w), instead of the crap standard (2x20w) stereo.

ive just bought an alpine 7894 I only posted the link as there may be people who want to amp the current headunit for now, as I did ( my amp as speaker inputs) untill i could afford a new headunit. You are right though with just a new HU it did sound alot better, but best upgrade is definatly to add a sub



on my New Hu i have an alpine adaptor which means the steering wheel remote bit still works but you only get the clock and temperature.

in case yr interested sony do a aftermarket amplifier that plugs into a vehicles ISO connection after the headunit and amplifys the signal to 4x50 watts...available from halfords for £109 quid if I remembers correctly and I should do ....Im a ripspeed specialist! hehe
