Been planning your loom adapter too Fred! I reckon you should stick an XAP dash in it though.
Can fook off the standard CANbus then and use a variant with public protocol for dash comms etc.
However if you want to keep standards can do that without too much fuss - need to have a butchers at the car though and measure some bits ;-)

not got to that stage yet, but its not cheap!
