Annoying Knock...

Its beginning to do my tits in now, I replaced my top mounts with some KTR solid top mounts I bought from a chap on here thinking it would cure the knock, but it didnt...

So what should I replace next?

Ball Joints?

He had numerous things knocking on that piece of crap I sold him.

Well the guy i bought them off bought some AST's as he thought they might be knackered, but he still has the knock with the AST's so i hope its not the mounts

Standard mate, I was thinking it could be fucked shocks but changing those is a last resort.

Yeah, down small bumpy roads etc, annoying as F*ck

jack the front wheels up, hold the wheels at 3 an 9 o clock positions and wobble to feel for play, if there is then thats balljoints. same again but at 6 and 12 positions, and if theres play thatl be top mounts

Are the balljoints 10 or 12mm bolts and holes??

For some reason they offer two options on the 172, the 10mm will knock their tits off due to being to small for the holes, the 12's will be just fine.

Easy thing to check, get it done.

No idea, it put it on the lift tomorrow and have a look see, i need to sort my front bumper out anyway..

Standard Front shocks are only £50 a side brand new. Cheap as chips.

I have a knocking noise like you say, replaced the ball joint and was still there. Top mounts seem fine, so ive put it down to the damper. Which will be refurbed this month anyway.

£50 more than id like to spend tbh, im thinking of selling up, so want it done cheap haha

I had a really annoying knocking on my phase 2. Replaced the engine mount that sits just under the battery. Job done

Well after much pissing around removing parts checking for play etc, i found the front shockers are fucked Also checked the rears and they are also fucked...

Not wure wether to replace with standard units or wait for some cheapish coilovers to pop up
