annoying knocking sound

Right, my car has started to make a knocking sound when I go over bumps. Think its from the front. Monday I took all four wheels off to clean wheels and arches, popped um back on and now I've noticed a knocking sound when driving over bumps/holes in the road.

Now I've checked the shocks for leaks, wheel bolts are tight, nothing hanging/broken that I can see under the car. It doesn't knock when turning etc, just holes/bumps in the road.

Any ideas what it could be? (i know it could 100's of things) but common faults?

cars a 1.6 16v 2004 clio, it is lowered on eibach sportlines and standard shocks, been lowered for 6k miles, shocks maybe gave up?

Most cars knock when you hit a bump!

Had a look they seem fine. What would i be looking for when checking the top mounts

checked your wheel bolts? not unknown for them to come undone.

Just jacked it up, and yes your correct ^. The bolt that hold the front arb to the wishbones has snapped (couldnt see this when it wasn't jacked up, only when you jack the oppisite side)

Guess there an off the shelf product from renault?

Should be.... you may find that alot of pattern part places (euro car parts, allparts etc) may sell them, worth a shot !

They seem cheap enough, may just pop to reno, cheers for your help though bud. Fun times ahead on the weekend fitting them.
