Another Cda Thread. Are they all the same ?

After reading the following thread http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?p=4974581#post4974581 about Bmc Cda Filters.

I was wandering if all the Cda airboxes are the same ?

The reason i ask is all the Bmc Cda's i have saw for sale look the same size but with different pipework and fittings (i.e the 90 degree bend to the throttle body from the Cda) .

I heard they are universal fitment(i.e same airbox diff pipework from car to car), is this true ?

I have one left over from when i had my 1.6 Polo Gti (2000 plate) and was gonna fit it to my 172 if theres any benefits over the Standard Airbox c/w Itg Panel filter and Lower grill air feed i have fitted to my 172 the now minus the acoustic valve.

So basically the question is.

Bmc Cda ?

or

Standard Airbox c/w Itg Panel filter and Lower grill air feed minus the acoustic valve ?

What do you think i should do guys ?

It might not flow enough air for the clio if the inlets are too small. If the inlets are the same size i'd say use it

Maxogen or nothing.

None of this 'home made maxogen' nonsense that gets spouted on here either, because that's bullshit as well.

Unless of course you want it for the noise... in which case go ahead lol.

The Samco Bend i have fitted the now to the standard airbox the now slips on a treat, no forcing it on or anything.

So should i go for it ?

I can't justify spending that sort of cash on a Maxogen no matter how good they are.

f**k that !!

I just thought i'd ask as i had the Bmc sitting there doing nothing ;)

I'd give it a go you can always swap back its only a ten minute job. You don't have anything to lose

Go for it! Thats what im doing at the moment, picked one up cheap, so its rude not to use it!

Even if the benefits aren't noticeable, the noise is! Afterall, its not like your using it as a race car :p

Very true, f**k it i'll swap them over and give it a go ;)

And i was just thinking, i would running with no Caf for a while till i get pipework sorted.
Would this do any harm ?

As i have heard from some people there is enough cold air flow to the battery area between the bonnet and some say there isn't :(

And would removing my bonnet seal help ?

Or just make it rattle ?

I run an open filter and thats fine so running it without a caf will be ok. people moan about open filters but if you look at all these big powered cars they all have them

Not 100% sure on the bonnet seal idea,

But running in open shouldn't be an issue really, Im going to run mine open due to the sound reverberating in the carbon box, in theory it should amplify it a little bit!! So a fapping awesome roar should come out!

The simota's work on the same principle, carbon box+heavy foot= GRIN Factor!

Give it a go, the airs still getting filtered on the way in, so no harm done really, its just not the coldest air being fed into it.

as far as I know the CDASP-08 which is for the 1*2's has the box shorter than others, so they're definitely not the same

  TRACK CAR BREAKING
It will work but the box for a 2:0 will be bigger and will allow something like 2 litres of air through a second were as a 1600cc one will let 1.6 litres of air through a second. It works something like that ...
