Another RS Tuner thread, please look

  Pearl Black 172
I'm pretty new on the clio scene and this RS tuner seems pretty popular and the sound of a 7800rpm rev limit is appealing.

I dont really know much but can some people explain a bit about it, i know you buy some hardware then download software onto your cars ecu but is there anything else to know?

Also how much am i looking at and where do i get it from

Thanks all

Andy

Its 7500 not 7800!

You get it from www.fastchip.nl and its about £140 delivered.

You upload a map with software you download from the site.

As well as that it does fault code rading, performance analysis and gives you live data reading from all the cars sensors.

it probably raises the power a few bhp, but its changes the power band and more torque lower down. Look at some of the rollingroad days where people are running the grp n map, they got some great results as a whole.

Look to expect:

Increased throttle response
Increased torque and power lower down
Increased idle to make it less lumpy
More even power band across the range, not so harsh a kick at 5k.
No kangarooing on cold mornings, just a nice smooth overrun.
Higher Rev liimit, although this really isnt needed with the power given lower down, i rarely go over 6.5k.

More to mention.

I was one of those on the rolling road and although i did get gains from the previous time the car was RR'd, i'm not sure if its to do with the remap.

Only way of telling would be to do the remap before and after a RR and then RR again after.

Best 140 i spent on my car to be honest. Ive done loads of silly mods in the past, and this mod has been my fav to play with. FAST AND FURIOUS STYLEY.

The RSTuner kit is the nuts. I am so happy with it, i was thinking about selling my 172 but after i had this done i'm not going to just yet.

It's running like a dream,

i found using tesco 99 ron fuel made the car run alot better with this map rather than using vpower

can this be added and get a remap too? does it make any difference the roar of the engine? and does it make it pull of any quicker? iv read alot about it but dont understand if it dosnt give any bhp hows it make it any quicker?

@Paul even if you are a .... you can do it. The only thing is to take the right files. If you have a 182 you need the Clio 2.0 FR4 CB20/21/22 file in the download/ecu calibration part. And choose the right .RST file and right .cal file.
Just tell Henk (owner fastchip) what you have and he will tell you what you need. Otherwise just ask on this forum

ok thanks for your help. much appreciated. feel as though i have a better idea now.

does it effect your mpg?

yes with "normal" driving it will be better, but well be honest if you reprogram your 182 do you do it to drive slower ?

But still the drivability will be much better, better pedal response, noticable torque increase and your green stick will light at 7500 Rpm. There is also a lot of data that acn be seen of your car itself....so less money great pleasure I would say.....best value for money trust me !

Is there any proven affect on mpg with the rs tuner? I see the idle is increased. Does the 5k 'kick' disappear because i actually quite like that. Is a placebo product or is there any proof that it works? Any good on standard car with no mods? Thanks
