another! Starting problem.. tried the obvious i think!

I think its something against me. My car runs fine, i mention in a thread of someones to try and help with their problem and my car then decides to have a problem!

So this is different, come to start it, immobiliser turns off, fuel primes but its just clicking. Had all the relays out, cleaned them up tapped at them and replaced them. All fuses fine. It was attempting to start earlier with a dying sound but now isn't at all.

Checked the battery and its reading around 12.5v. Earthed the engine, gearbox etc.. no change.

Been working without issues for months. I then park it facing down slightly (yes thats when i get problems ) and i get this. Worked fine last night, the only thing different i did to normal was fill the tank to the top and clean the inside out (yes with the radio on)

I tried jumpstarting the car but the jump leads only seamed to read down at 8/9v on the other end but the car they were connected to was outputting the correct amount (13 or 14 ish) So i gave up.

Even when just turning on the iginition it makes a weird sound for a couple of seconds from the dash that its never done before.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the starter isnt engaging. Give it a knock with a rubber hammer or a metal one with a plank of wood.

Sister volvo sounded and did the exact thing.

I could give this a go, i'm hoping its just a flat battery, going to try and get hold of a battery charger later on. I normally would go and try giving the starter a knock, but its soggy dirt under the car and its not easy accessible to get to with hands from what i remember. cheers

Put jump leads from another car running. And do neg to an earth and pos to batt. Leave for 5 mins. Should start. If not then id rule battery out.

Going to get a battery charger, the jump leads i have arn't up to scratch really and the charger isn't that much expensive and at least i have one then as a just incase.

Will report back late tonight when its been on a decent charge.

Mines done the same thing. In the end the problem turned out to be the alternator was knackered so the battery was flat. If it does start check to see that your getting between 13/14 volts across the battery to make sure that it is charging.
