Another thread about CV boot

The big clip is missing - i.e. the one nearest the wheel on the drivers side. I've read all the other threads about grease it up and put a new clip on, so I'll get it into the garage next week and get it sorted - don't really fancy getting my hands dirty - and get them to check the CV joint at the same time.

But the thing is, my car was serviced (36k) about 7 weeks ago by a dealer - I find it hard to believe that in that time the clip could rot / break / whatever and completely dissapear! Surely there would have been some sign of wear/tear at the time of the service that they should have spotted...

Should I be having a go at them about this or just take it on the chin and pay to have it fixed ?

i think they just break and theyre gone mate....

when i bought mine i had a years warrenty with it and both clips were there one day i was washing the car, then the next they were both gone! was a warrenty job to get them redone. think its simple enough though!

its not possible to tell if something like this is about to break

I guess so. Sadly mine is no longer under warranty so hand-in-pocket time. I was hoping not to have to make any trips to the garage for a while after having it serviced - should have known better really

  No more clio's for me!
I notice mine is missing on the drivers side, back of the wheel is covered is grease which is a right biatch to get off! oh well, getting is sorted tomorrow :)

Here's a pic of mine....after a clean!!!

Amazingly tho, the grease hasn't made it thru to the front of the wheel and on to the body work! And luckly the boot is not split! :)

Should be a 10min job and a tenner mate, if yours is the same!

Let's hope so.

It was actually that thread that made me check mine. I'd noticed a bit of grease on the wheel last time I cleaned it, but had assumed I'd just picked it up off the road somewhere. I've not actually had my wheel off, just turned the steering wheel and stuck my head round to have a look.
