I think you've got the mountains mixed up.
google map 'A4069' that's the mountain, it's a long way from anything England.
its only a 20 minute drive from swansea.
I live 5 minutes away from the black mountains, I can assure you they're no where near the England boarder.
The mountains are in the 'beacons' as such, but not up Brecon. It's an easy 40 minute drive extra from the black mountains to Brecon/ hay on wye. And Abergavenny is even further away.
The Black Mountains (Welsh: Y Mynyddoedd Duon) are a group of hills spread across parts of Powys and Monmouthshire in southeast Wales, and extending across the national border into Herefordshire, England. They are the easternmost of the four ranges of hills that comprise the Brecon Beacons National Park
Depends whether you mean the black mountain as a single mountain.. Which is in the black mountains, a mountain range... Or as you put the black mountainS you mean the range.. Either way the area has some pretty special roads..
Flol. either way, go drive that road. Its about 20 mins long, very technical, with quite a few blind bends/sharpening apex's. So be careful along there. its not a fast road atall. I did manage 1 or 2 over takes on it, but it takes alot of planning lol
