ANY GOOD??

Megs Gold Class was fine when I was a detailing noob. Trouble was, I bought a job lot off of eBay so had to get through it!

BTBM is one of the best. CSWalmsley, yes.

I got a small bottle from French car show this year. It's better than the turtle wax car shampoo I used to use but I can't say I've tried it against anything else. It's expensive too for the size bottle you get :(

Yeah, as with most things you get what you pay for. It's very slick, regardless of water hardness. People not in the know (including me years ago!) judge a shampoo on how much it suds up. BTBM doesn't foam as much as others I've used, but it is one of the most slick, slickest? Wever.

More bubbles makes a cleaner car iirc...

Foams up really well I think, not that I care.

Its the only shampoo ive used that cleans really well yet doesnt rape the wax. Zymol carbon will produce tight beading in good weather after its 3rd wash. Ive not come across another shampoo like it. Gtechniq G wash is not far off, but doesnt quite clean as well.

Zymol Auto Wash from halfrauds is also excelent but not quite as mild as BTBM, used that for a long time and Im tempted to try it out again. Auto Bathe is good but doesn't clean well and definitely doesn't foam up.

Tbf gwash isn't for a proper dirty car. Protected with the system it'll be much cleaner after snowfoam and a PW so Gwash should be doing minimal cleaning. Superb shampoo.

Sounds like I've got the right stuff then. And I'm using a sheepskin mitt from dodo juice.

Wax is next thing I need to buy. No idea where to start there. help needed please :)

Back on topic. I hate cleaning the work vans and they are only small. Transit connect and a Peugeot expert. I tend to snow foam sponge and pressure wash to be honest. It's such a chore otherwise.

Tried that Autoglym shampoo stuff. I take it you use it with cold water, funny stuff, no bubbles, I'm used to bubbles and lots of them, seemed like washing it with plain water.

Anyway, one side is now waxed.(thanks to James for the waxy stuff).

Really? I get lots of bubbles. Egg cups worth of AG and fast running water. Bubbles!

Well I got bubbles on top, but nothing to write home about, 2 cap fulls in 10 ltrs lke it says on the bottle.

It's not about the bubbles, it's more important that the solution provides good lubrication allowing you to pass the mitt/sponge as smoothly as possible, after all that's what does the cleaning not the bubbles.

Yeah exactly i'd rather slick, than bubbles!

Some say the AG stuff isnt slick enough, but it was easy to get hold of at the time so I went for it. Will be swapping when I run out though.

Nobody actually answered me about the cold water bit, I just guessed that, if you use warm water, it will remove the wax.

Am I right, fk, this van is big. :(

Warm water helps the cleaning process. It has to be very hot to strip wax. Think about the temperature of a metal panel in strong sun?

I use very hot water occasionally if there are dead bugs welded onto the front, it helps.

Use cold-ish water in summer to prevent it drying out too quickly.

Ah, thank you my spikey haired friend. I would prefer to use warm water. Thanks.

Thread revival, thanks for all your expert advice guys.

The van has been washed weekly since we last spoke, with afore mentioned shampoo. The water still runs off it like a brother with your hubcaps!

Paintwork is starting to look a little duller now though, but I must admit, it hasn't had any QD over it, I just don't get the time.

But overall, still looking good.

Thanks.

I expect it's soon time to do it all again?
