Any idea what this is for?

  ST on the way...
I've just added the dash dimmer to my car as it didn't have one and i've found another plug that my old car didn't have :S

Does anyone know what it's for and if it can be put to use like the dimmer plug can? :D

It's behind the headlight adjuster/dash dimmer panel.

Cheers

propably a plus for the dash dimmer, anything like my old 205 it had the same loom as the gti but without the toys, so the extras could just be pluged straight in

It's just secured at the back of the plastic panel to stop it rattling about.

The only things that go there are traction control and cruise control as far as I know.

it may well be for one of them things, you will most likely have a plug at the other end to plug the expensive bit of equipment in lol

Brown.

could be traction control although there normally black, the connection wire may be there but the controlling unit may not, it costs to much to use seperate wiring looms for individual models so they use the same one for each model......

I wonder when TC appeared as standard on the 172's?

My 2003 clio didn't have the connector but the 2004 does.

Easy one, its the crusie control limiter start stop switch as said Renault mix and match looms for cost.

Funnily enough there potential 5 switches etc in that plate

1) ESP switch
2) LPG or petrol switch (1.2 ands 1.4's had that option abroad)
3) Crusie control start stop
4) Headlight adjustment
5) Lightening dimmer for the dash.

Those wire go to a variaty of bits 2 of them (grey and green go to the ECU (its a long way they have to go round the top of the dash)
The Blue ones goes to the F26 fuse box (again a long route since the fuse box is over that side the French cars looms are cheaper to make as there less wires they never moved the fuse box for production simpliity so our cars cost more to built in theory)
The black as always is the earth line
The Yellow comes fromt he fuse box F2 fuse

Heated seats only have 3 wires per seat (two yellow and one black line)
