been talkin with my mates about getting our cars chipped but none of us really know what they can do or if there worth it, any1 in the know?

There a few owners with remaps depends what sort of mods personaly I'd never bother on a stock car only one with mods where the reamp helps bring back the A/F ratio and is more noticable and in some circumstances necessary.

I would imagine it's only older cars that require a physical chip change these days.

Now that there so many places who can remap the stock ecu I woulnd't bother with SMT.

You have to remember that all of these thing chippin/remaps etc are all the same there a different set of ECU maps. The superchip stuff is an off the shelf not made for your car its usually made for a car with an induction kit exhaust etc and the sperchip place make the perfect mapds for the car all cars are different and different mods need different maps slightly.

The maps tell the injectors to fire for longer or advance/r****d the spark to make more power and to ensure that the car has the ideal amount of fuel for the air its breathing (since adding an air filter/ehaust etc make the engine breath more air as such).

I've just had mine remapped by RS Tuning and l can feel the difference.....smoother and pulls better

Maybe get more MPG as well......although l bet l drive it harder now!

I've got the KTEC remap done to my car and whilst the rev limit has increased to 7800rpm and the peak power has increased too the torque curve looks like a drunk man walking home.

IMHO if your gonna tune one of the RS Clio's seriously you need to go for a standalone ECU such as an OMEX or similar.

I have all my rolling road printouts for all the mods I've had done to the car and am happy to post them up so you can see the results.

yes, it's what we (GDI) use on a lot of clios at the moment.

OMEX is the best choice as its stand alone

unichips are rubish

smt6 don't give much use realy and for the price being as stock ecu can be remapped there no need in them.
