Anybody else wish they'd left their car std

Ali

I'm fed up now. I wish i'd stopped at wheels, springs and cup spoiler/splitter.

I'll never modify another car again! std is the way forward. Was in my Bro's R32 today, So comfy, leather seats. AC on. quiet, until you boot it and hear the milltek.

Mines loud, uncomfy, brakes don't work till their hot, idle's like a bag of s**t. it's fast...but i'm can't be bothered anymore! Anyone else feel the same or am i just getting old?

Anybody want to buy it?

Good news is you only have to learn this lesson once matey! :)

...plus you can always remember it's something you've experienced.

Your getting old laddie.

The thought of a 3 series BMW for the daily commute is becoming a regular occurrence.

I'd even consider a diesel in the trade off in comfort/speed.

Ali!

Ive been thinking exactly the same thing mate, its not just you.

If i did it again id fit h&r's, a natty cup number plate, and leave it at that, maybe save for some recaro's in the future.

  Shed.
How much you looking for dude?

how about a fiver and a bag of monster munch? :approve:

A raw, one in a lifetime deal. Damm, i couldnt do much better on ebay.

On topic:

Yeah actually. Only fitted a induction kit. but i wish id have left it standard now.

My Dad's mate has a touring D3.

Is it just me or is that like having a roof rack on your caterham?!?!

I've done a fair bit...And whilst the car looks good imo...It's now not a comfy car. I enjoy driving when i'm in the mood and it turns heads. But i want something else! i've got the Williams for fun! And trust me it's more fun!

Idealy i wish i'd got eibac pro'd or spotlines - not sure which is lower and left it at that. Infact i wish i'd bought a std V6 when i had the chance. I've probably spent about the same....

what have i spent actually....£4k+

Next car will be a turbo that is fast at motorway pace... all ill do is remap it.

My 182 is better then it was standard though i think.... was too loud at one point for my liking but ive changed that.

Could'nt agree more, spent a bloody fortune on my first mini, taking it from 850cc to 1380cc turbo, ahh the memories, I will never forget or forget that I was always replacing something!

Happy days.

Funny how you have done these mods and then want to sell...

Remember that 172 with itbs I had....and then sold it???

Weird.

i felt exactly the same about the 172... which is one of the reasons why im traded it in.

the 182 is staying standard, until the parts wear out and will be replaced by whatever is good at the time.

true mate...I'd love a tb'd car...But stoddie was up the other day and after a blast wee with him, we had to leave them both running for about 5 to cool....Then in the morning his was turning over for about 5mins before it started!

I just want a simple, nice car! Going to do a few trackdays in mine tho! :) Sure as hell not sellin when i just spent 100's on brakes!

But your 172 was std, bar springs and zorst...

I jsut think there is an element of freshness about buying a new standard car.

It feels original and it all fits as it should.

yeah, but i got tired of them towards the end. I guess the novelty just wore off, even though they were both excellent modifications.

its also a refreshing change come insurance time not to be restricted by your modifications. Much less hassle IMO.

yeh, if i had a 182 i'd get a zorst and eibacs. but i don't like the 182 as much...

That's odd, when I met Jon/TheJesus and Taylor the other week to see my old car, they were absolutely hammering the f**k out of it.

Andy from GDI took it out and hammered f**k out of it. Jon says he does nothing but "give it death" and theres been no problems with it mechanically what so ever. He had some compression test done on it to and came back near enough brand new like it had just come out the factory. So it's a pretty healthy car for such mods and the type of driving it gets.

Till it goes pop...I couldn't be arsed with that constantly on my mind when driving.

Every car I've modified...looking back I wish I had'nt bothered...buying a car that someone else spent silly money modifying however...

  Clio 172 mk2
I sometimes wish I had something a bit more suited/quiet for motorway driving.....it's this which the 172/182 really doesn't do well at.

  Broken Diesel Megane :(
ali!!!!

check and see your balls ares still between your legs! but yeah i know what you mean about modifying.

i had my cup about 10 months and must of spent around £1200 on just s**t now looking back.

glad i got the meg, coz like ur bro's r32 (apart from build qualty, and huge arse) it has leather seats, its comfortable, my ears dont bleed, and my back isn't ruined from the ride. oh and it shifts when i want it too.

only thing getting done to my car is, milltek exhaust (same as your bro and gutted he got it before asking me!!!, just for a wee note), and cup wheels, and coilovers. all worthwhile mods.

and the beauty is, if i get bored, then a wee remap £400+ will see 260-280bhp :D

  VaVa
Dibs on your coilovers. ;-)

I know what you mean Ali - I took the rear seats out of mine to fill it with golf gear and drove about 60 miles in it. Left me fealing tired and neary deaf. lol.
