Anyone 19 with a 172?

  BMW M135i
Who did you go with insurance wise? Got itchy feet, just trying to find sub 2k insurance quotes (if they exist). I'm 19, 2yrs ncb and been driving 2 years.

Admiral will do a sub £2k quote if you don't llive in the ghetto and limit your mileage.

I had my 172 on a fleet policy when i was 17 lol

If you don't want to pay out the arse for a 172. Try a 106 GTi. 19 with no NCB and i pay £750 fully comp.

Who with? Always had a bit of a soft spot for them.

Admiral want £2.1k for a 172, 3k without mum and dad on the policy! And no I don't live in the ghetto, its old b******s 'r' us round here and its the best area in the town.

My GTi policy is with admiral. Call them though. They tend to be about £100-200 cheaper than their online quotes.

I'm 21 and pay just over £800 for a 182, I was paying £1300 for a saab 93 before (same age) which doesn't make much sense to me! (thats with 3 years ncb and 6 points) direct line. I think it might have something to do with the cctv underground carpark where I live, the city center postcode can't be the reason!

I'd say around 2k is the best you're going to get.

Stick with yours for a year mate as hard as it can be.....

Thats the conclusion i'm drawing to tbh. I just can't see the point in paying that much for insurance, £1k for this one (mods) is bad enough really. If I touch wood make it to 3yr ncb and 20 that should make it moderately bearable I hope, although i'm far from convinced it will be though tbh. For some reason insurance companies don't want me to have a 1*2.

The trouble is I really really really want one, but I guess i'll be hanging back for another year. Well at least it'll give me more time to save more money I guess, wish i'd bought one a 1.6 with climate and leccy sunroof now as well but I guess the grass is always greener :dapprove:.

I just hope I can find someone to insure me next year as no-one seems even remotely interested this year.

no climate and leccy sunroof on your 1.6, how come?

Because there both optional extras and I didn't think i'd miss them, which to be honest I don't but they're both nice to have for the gadget factor and i'm a gadget *****.

Its only a standard Dynamique [AC] spec, and the AC is optional!

oh right I didn't know that but Al old 1.6 Dynamique come with climate and leccy sunroof.

get a mk2 Rsi cos they are lighter!

Yeh, my old 1.2 had them and i'm missing them a bit now but i'll live. RSi's are nice but its negative equity for me unfortunately, its that and the lack of AC that puts me off 106 GTi's.

Is it just me who avoids cars with air con like the plague!? .... Ever since my 206 GTi air con gremlins lol. The amount of money i've plundered on faulty air con repairs...... In the end i decided the window was a better option :)

Ive just got a 172 (group 16) cost me an extra £259 on my policy until the end of October, i reckon the total renewal from then will be about £800.

Im 21 next week and will have 5 years no claims in oct.

Thats with direct line, but im gonna shop around when its up for renewal
