After a few months of using this site I'm scared s**tless that my car is gonna suffer a horrible death or expensive painful failure. Has anyone used this or know how much it costs to purchase something like this?

i did consider one as well or the extended warranty from the stealers but decided not to , dont know why just didn't think it was really necessary .

  RS6+ & 40d MSport X5
ive got auto care from arnold clark.. good buy imo.. already had a g/box off them

How much is a standard warenty these days i.e how much did u pay for yours and what type of cover did you get?

i got one when i bought the car cost about £400 for two years! ive had a new drive shaft so far:eek: and its been less then a year

dont use warrantydirect.co.uk!!!!! they're Sh*t! sister's car warranty is with them.. they tell u everything is covered wen u buy it. only parts are not covered are cambelts, airbags n Shocks. a few weeks back her car's fan motor failed:dead: , so rang up and tried to claim warranty. they gave her a number to book in with their mechanic to check the car up. After they checked it, they said that part is not covered. told her to sort it out herself.
so what't the point buying a warranty from them when they said everythings is covered and its not true!

Got a Warranty with mine when I got it, in a year the front/rear wheel bearings and water pump have been claimed(although its a month and a half and I ain't seen the water pump cheque though) so in theory worth doing

I woulnd't bother with them there all rubish IMO Renault UK own is the only good one but its not cheap.

197 engine and box arn't exactly drop in.

Stock clutch is best realy unless your pushing bigger power.

When I got mine I got 1 month with the car and I also took out AA breakdown and repair cover (neighbour works for them so get 15% off). Even without the discount it looks good. You can get it as long as you have normal AA breakdown cover, from £45 up and then for an extra £65 you get the repair cover which covers most things other than wear and tear and elecy windows and the like. They pay £500 towards anything up to 5 times a year and you can take it to any VAT registered garage. Only thing is your car needs to be less than 10 years old or less than 100,000 miles and have services done when they should be.

My dad bought an after market warranty a while ago. It was particuarly expensive and when something did break it wasn't covered. I had to gloat as I did tell him it was a waste of money.

the only thing you have to do is to make sure you read the small print very carefully. when i bought my car it came with an aftermarket warranty and it does say in the tiny print that any broken component is replaced with a refurbished/second hand part if available unless you pay the extra. which means your only really getting 'free' labour

I bought one with mine, not sure who it's through, seemed good at the time, but I bet most things aren't even covered. Only reason I got it was because the clutch failed on my old Clio and it was done under an aftermarket warranty so I saved myself a s**t-load. Still got a year left on it. Hopefully it'll be something big that goes in a spectacular way so that I can claim it!

if the engine ever went in mine i'd be looking at shoehorning in a larger one, battery in the boot and maybe a 2ltr bmw or honda eninge..... not sure what'll fit but it's a while off being needed.
