Anyone bought and oil cooler off the bay?

Much cheaper than ktec for a 16row with thermostat and stainless hoses. How much more oil is required when one is fitted?

Can someone explain to me what these do? i get they cool oil but what are the advantages etc?

it's mainly for track driving. If you read the description the seller explains it, but basically if the oil gets too hot, but lubricating properties deminish and can cause damage to the engine. By cooling it you won't put any excess strain on the engine.

If you get the thermostat built in, the cooler only works when the oil temp goes about 80degrees so that when you're running the car normally, the oil isn't too cold.

Anyone any idea how much extra oil is required for this? which cooler is best row wise ?

Not needed on a standard engine really, wont do any harm but kinda not needed.

I ended up putting about 0.8 litres in i think extra.

Yes 13row is what you need. Actually you will have trouble getting a bigger one fitted at least without modifications of the crashbeam. K-tec use Mocal coolers in their kit. Bought one of those but upgraded the cooler from 11row to 13row. Bought the cooler from the producer http://www.thinkauto.com/ great service.
