anyone fitted a uprated fuel tank inside car!!



hi all , has anyone fitted a different fuel tank to there 172/182 as i am thinking of getting one made up but not to sure on size's yet and where the best place to put it is??? forge motorsport have said they can make me one up if i get some size's down to them!!! any advice guys :S , the car is only going to be used a track car as well for the mo, i was thinking of getting one made up to the size of the spare wheel well ,

Is there much point? unless you only have a small capacity one but i can't imagine them being much lighter than the standard one.
 
If you mean just a plain fabricated ally tank then the last thing I would want to do would be to put this in the crash zone at the rear of the car!

I have fitted 'uprated' tanks to various cars, from budget ATL saver cells to more expensive custom shaped kevlar/carbon bag tanks which are designed to fit under/over the rear of the cars floor and are shaped to match the seat squab/boot floor area to maximise volume.

For what it is worth the Mk2 and X85 race cars ran standard tanks with standard pickups. You do not need to move or change the tank for performance reasons.
