Blimey that was fast!
Ok, so if you dont mind me asking a couple of questions... here goes!
What do you / can you plug into the HU?
Is it just like 1 lead that then goes to that other box, and then everything else runs off that? i.e. RCAs, CD Changer, Speakers, Video Inputs, NAV input etc?
If youve just sold your 172, maybe the units are out of the car?! Any chance you could post a couple of pics of the back of the HU and another of the box?
Im just wondering how much extra cableing Im going to have to do to get it installed nicely!
Will the HU separate box reach into the boot or do you have to put it in the dash / under the driver seat? (passenger one already has my cd changer under it).
Cheers :-D
Sorry for the late reply, its all boxed up at the min, will try and get some pics asap, but im decorating at the min so might take a while as getting my ear bended on getting the decorating done first. Let put the cabling this way, its not too bad, you have a connector going from the head unit to the control box itself, this box has all the connectors on it, the video inputs outputs, the NI-net plug, the sat nav input, phono etc. All the wires you run plan to run to this. It takes a while to sort out and to be honest I would plan a whole day so you dont rush it. But the result is whats worth it. Yes you can play a cd whilst running the sat nav, it fades when giving you directions and its really nice. Its much better than all in jobs as it has a seperate dvd rom that you can put under seats etc so if you go wrong you dont have to fumble to find the dvd again and take your cd out.
Connections that will go in the laguna will be the mobile hub for the headunit, the IPOD ni-net interface (when its out next month), a cd changer, the sat nav box and thats about it. The TMC you can actually run from the cars arial which is what i will be doing this time, as you will get better reception from that rather than the stuck on window arial to pick up traffic delays and diversions. The cd changer cable matey since you asked is really long so you wont have any problems. Really its up to you where u fit things, you get really long cables in the pack and some extensions so your free to fit whereeva.
Also speed cable, you can use the purple cable on the ISO or use the far right purple cable on the mph (red) plug connectors.
Hope that helps
