I dont think they will ever work with 3.. I don't think its possible from a technalogical standpoint (it doesnt have the right hardware to work on 3's network)

Can he just go into the Apple store buy an iphone and use it as a normal phone.

Will there be any problems with using itunes as i know thats when the contract comes into it when you first go into itunes.

Also is there any catches with doing this on 02 pay as you go ?

nope won't affect.

it i wouldn't pay more than £50 for a o2 unlock and you can expect to pay £100+ for a non-02 unlock.

It's fairly simple to get the iPhone jailbroken to use any other O2 simcard, if you are fairly competent using a computer then you can no doubt follow the instructions for yourself.

Buying the iPhone from Apple, CPW or O2 requires use of a credit/debit card but this in no way ties you into any contract. Contracts are signed up for by using iTunes.

I decided to Jailbreak my iPhone lastnight to see what was available using the installer. One or two nice features but I'll probably restore to default tonight.

I tested the send MMS application which works well but am unsure what o2 will charge for this as it's not currently part of the iPhone tariff.

jailbreak is pretty good, customize, summerboard, iphysics, mms all worthwhile. Not to mention the NES and GBA roms. Why would you restore it now you've done it? just cause you like it standard or because you have found problems with jailbreak?

as for mms, they will charge you next to nothing as you get all your data free with iphone tariffs.

I'm slightly concerned that the o2 systems may flag the fact my iPhone has sent MMS messages and draw the conclusion that I have altered the official firmware. I don't want to lose my warranty.

The MMS sending works but it doesn't acually tell you the message has sent. I quit out of the app on two occasions thinking it was not working.

yeh but in reality, you may have swapped out your sim card into another phone specifically to send an mms, it's not like they can come round your house and ask you to present your iphone haha i think you're over worrying it mate.

adding the installer isn't technically illegal either. The only illegal things as far as i'm aware is to install copyrighted software illegally OR bypass 02 activation, which you haven't done.

Each message sent sends the ID of the device it was sent on so they would know it was the iPhone but I doubt o2 are overly bothered or will even check.

I'll probably keey the phone Jailbroken if it continues to run without issue. I've just installed Summerboard and I like the changes it offers.

Where do I find iPhysics? Do I need to add more sources?
