anyone running an LSD on a 172/182?

once you're at high power (boosted) the difference is very noticable. the standard diff becomes a liability IMO. Dont think it's a problem at all for nearly every NA clio
not so sure, depends if you're (as his lordship clarkson would say, hamfisted behind the wheel)
if you can pedal the car well enough then you'll be alright, k-tec when they were testing the quaife unit with cira 300bhp did a 1min 26.something round donnington on R888's, we managed a 1min 27.something with no diff and a dodgy engine (225bhp) with no PAS plus having to short shift to 4th past the microphone to meet 98db and on road tyres
not saying sean the driver (IIRC) was hamfisted of the k-tec car, far from it, but with the diff, it made not a lot of difference in my eyes, i've found similar in my own testing

you just disagreed, then agreed in one statement :s
without a quaife I recon the turbo 172/182 is verging on dangerous, it's still a massive handful even with one, whereas the stock diff is quite capable with an NA clio

only running around 190bhp but looking at getting ITB's later this year. had a shot of a civic with an LSD yesterday and was very impressed with the pull out low speed bends you just mash the throttle and go!

does it feel any different to drive day to day or are they much the same?
how about fitting, ive never taken a gearbox apart before but ive changed a few on a clio! so getting it off and on isnt a problem its just the actual fitting of the diff?

I had a avanti diff (£1300 maxi) on my last clio and it was epic (we were quicker round bedford than a cup racer - private owner but he could drive)
It was awsome just pulled hard out of every bend!
For the gripper you have to shorten a driveshaft by 12mm, they are very hard to get the old diff out btw

might consider an avanti then if they are worth the extra, so any place that rebuilds gearboxes will be fine for fitting? shaft need shortened with an avanti too?

ill look at getting some quotes, really fancy one now before i get more power, roads were a bit damp couple of weeks back and my mates civic was pulling on me no problem in the corners and this wasnt even hard driving just quick driving thru some bends

sorry , i just know that one of these stops the wheel that's lifted from spinning and shifts the power to the wheel with traction..
What does an ATB diff do compared to the plate differential ?
The bit about being quicker than a cup racer.............how?

With an ATB, if you lift a wheel it will act like an open diff.

Be quite honest I would find something else to spend the money on
