Anyone want a laugh?

After having a new clutch, my car went into Renault at 9am yesterday due to a sticky/grinding type noise that only occurs when the car is warmed up (when pressing clutch in and out).

They called last night saying they didn't have time to look at it properly so wanted to keep it overnight. I haven't heard anything today so gave them a call.....

I was told that it was due to a problem with the clutch pivot but the gearbox would need to be to be stripped to be sure. They said they don't even know if it is covered by warranty so i may have to pay for the labour.

At this point i told them that was crap as they would obviously just swing it so that i would have to pay.

Anyone want to know what the labour cost of stripping a gearbox is?

£584.64!!!!!!

They said they wouldnt know if it is covered until they have stripped it!!!

So its a gamble.

Apparently the warranty company have to see it stripped first or something.

I haven't a clue. They just said that they wouldn't be sure on the problem until it was stripped as they THINK its clutch pivot but not sure. So if they are wrong, i have to pay!!!

What a load of b****cks, I'v said it before and ill say it again I'll always be very pleasent at first but if they start being arseholes I dont tolerate that

Was the car ok b4 the clutch was changed? If so, they've balls'd it up and so they have to fix it!

No, the clutch made the same noise before it was replaced and was one of the reasons it was changed in the first place!

Just tell them to go ahead with it, then when they come to making you pay, ask them for proof you told them to carry out the repairs ;)

if they fitted the clutch last time then its probably there fault and they havent got a leg to stand on... if somewhere else fitted a clutch they mite try n use that against u. most dealers would just do it and claim warranty, there still getting paid.

Yeh thats why i thought. Well the guy said he would ring the warranty company and get back to me but said he wasn't hopeful that they'd agree to anything until the gearbox was stripped.

if the cars still in warranty - end of story. i work at a renault dealer ( not statin which one, might get slated) when a dealer does warranty work, renault pay the dealer. so the dealer is making money either way. kick up enough and fuss they'll do it warranty

I put a screwdriver through the wiring loom of my DCI100 Clio when fitting the sound system! The dealer replaced the full loom from the bonnet to the fuse box under warranty!

most dealers will do that...its easy money for them. i think some dealers just try to be a pain in tha arse tho.

sounds like its not a genuine renault warranty on the car ? if it was a dealer warranty they just go ahead and strip the box then replace the parts.. under warranty the only time is when youve bought the car with a used warranty so it not genuine renault one...

Scream loudly, ask for the manager etc having been reasonable. They'll crumble.

P.S. The interior light came y'day Schwep. Thanks!

Dude, stripping a gearbox is easy peasy, it's putting it back together properly that's the hard part.

Just tell them, you'll strip it, they can look at it, then they can pay to fix it and put it back together, and then pay you £75 an hour for your time stripping it.

Me neither, but I'm damn sure I could do a better job than renault!!!:rasp:

They obviously don't have a clue wot's wrong with the car. So they're taking precautions jus in case they rip ur gearbox out and it doesn't fix the problem. Then they get you to pay for it even though it's still not fixed.

Bit like me saying I'll take your wife out, wine her, dine her, and if I don't get anything after, u can pay!!!

So they've replaced the clutch for nothing then? If you'd already paid for them to fix the problem and they haven't they should be doing the gearbox for free!

The clutch wasn't replaced by Renault though. However, they don't know that.

I'm not going to talk about the company that replaced the clutch as their response to the noise was "its normal, we cant do anything about it other than spray it with WD40 every few months!"

  Whichever has fuel
Threaten them with consumer rights, bad publicity etc. They'll do it under warranty!!!

Its not under Renault Warranty, its under a warranty that was supplied with the car by a private garage.

There lies the problem.

Why the f**k do Renault care?? Its out of their warranty.

(sorry Andy, just saying it like it is! ;))

This makes me sound like i dont know what is wrong with it. i have told people on service what is wrong how they choose to deal with the claim is up to them. The warrenty company could turn around and say its a wear and tear item. Andy you brought the car in with a stiff clutch first.
