Best 'looking' drop. The ride is harsh but I don't find it an issue. Turn in is fantastic. I would have to have a serious drive of an Eibach equipped car before deciding to change and there would need to be a marked improvement over the already good Apex.

So far ive had on my car the following (in correct order)

Standard Springs
Eibach Proline Springs
Apex Springs
Standard Springs
Eibach Sportline Springs

all with standard shocks.

my conclusion:
The apex are the worst spring out of the 4. The standard springs were a vast improvement over the apex... never again! The Eibach Pro's were the best springs I have had on the car, and the Sportline springs are great, and give a nice drop.

Go and buy some Eibach Sportlines, you won't be dissapointed.

Will the eibach springs fit on a 182 cup? couse i know they have different suspention to the normal 182.

Anyone got any pics of a 40mm drop on a 182cup?

The only way the standard springs were better than my Apex is in the ride department, other than that, they are a significant improvement.

New to the forums here,

Bought a 2000 172 yesterday. Very interested in getting the car dropped a bit. At the moment it's completely standard bar an exhaust.

Last thing I want to do is mess with the handling.

I think the ride is just too harsh mate, although thats only going on what ive heard.

Ive got Eibach Sportlines and there are 1st class. Dont have a side pic, but think i have one of the front... 1 sec.

Only pic ive got... not ideal, sorry.

Me, other than the harsh ride, really don't see the issue. Maybe people are expecting a little too much from a £90 spring setup.

not really, i knew what to expect when i fitted the apex. Unfortunately they were worse than what i expected from other reviews.

The apex are very bouncy, and crashy. Around Brands Hatch I was bouncing round the corners in an uncontrolled fashion, which completely ruined the key attribute to owning a RenaultSport car IMO.

The standard suspension is by far better than the apex, due to its controlled manner and all round feel. I'm more than happy with my Eibach Sportlines now, a genuine upgrade on the standard springs.

I was the same at brands .. and my apex seemed to drop a hell of alot more than 40mm .. I will be able to tell you for sure tomorrow when I measure the car as standard ..

Everyone has their own opinion the only way you can be sure it to bite the bullet and try them .. as said they arnt massive pounds £90 will get you a brand new set.

personally i think apex are great if you want to lower your car, they arent the best spring out there for handling, but the eibach drop is hardly noticable. tbh, if you track your car regularly then a coilover setup is the only way to go. If you are interested in ride quality stick with standard.

I had them on my 172 for 50k without issue and i didnt buy them brand spankers either.

What is the true height difference between eibach sportlines and prolines? I have a cupped 182 and have heard one of these makes no difference to ride height!

ive had both pro's and sports on my car...

the pro's dropped maybe 5mm at most... my current sportlines have dropped the car 30mm

Ive just fitted Apex springs onto my 182 and I must say I agree with both sides of the arguments. The car now looks fantastic and handling is improved. Yes they are crashy and rather firm but I kinda like that, not that much different to standard setup.

All depends on what you want really. For me the Pros far outway the cons.....for now!! lol

So the general consensus is that Eibach sportlines are the best compromise for ride/drop? How do they affect the handling, I have no intention on doing track days, just fast road driving.

^ Is it just the lowered look you are wanting ?

Apex are much softer than standard springs imho dont know handling can be imporved .. lol

I cant wait to get my apex springs off now... i never used to have a problem with them and although the ride is harsh, never really minded much

But ive heard raving things about the Eibachs, and so ive bought some Sportlines, the ride height sounds good with them (30/35mm) and ive only heard good things about the handling/ride

Saying that... My car at the moment with the apex springs squats and corners beautifully

If i didnt have to drive shite bouncy B roads every day id keep them

Yes want the lowered look but don't want to knacker the already decent handling. Am a bit confused, as some people seem to hate apex with a passion and others don't think they are all that bad!

Sportlines are EXCELLENT, 10 months on and I'd say its one of the best mods for the money you can do....

Personal preference I guess ..try them and see what you think ?

See if there is someone local to you with them on their car ?
