are 172/182 really fitted with cat 1

been looking at my documents in the glove box and found the alarm certificate and noticed that on the system type fitted section, they have written down TC2 alarm system could this mean that my clio has only got a Thatcham cat 2 alarm system, i have noticed the same thing with my old mk172??? or the TC2 could be summit else.

Cat 2 is Thatcham Approved immob, Cat 1 is thatcham approved ALARM + IMMOB, which is what we got.

I was looking at my alarm certificate yesterday but didnt see anything unusual like this. Will take a look.

TC2 = immobiliser only TC1 = alarm + immobiliser



basically you should have ultrasonics at the top of the A pilar. a flashing led. and if you look into the skuttle where all the window wipey stuff is, then you should see a siren

my cup has a cobra TC2 to TC1 keyless upgrade as standard.. i assume the normal 172s have the same

cant remember what it says on my certificate but it should state it is the cobra cat 1 system.. think its cobra anyways.
