haha brilliant, not something Ive ever thought about but mine are all scratched let us know how you get on...

The warently covers manurtacturing faults. I got mine chnaged under warently as it shouldnt wear its just poor qulaity materials which wear to quick. It will be done under warently its difficult to say why a stearing wheel shouldnt last 100k of driving so it it fails after 50k then its a defect of manurfacture even if its an inbuilt poor quality product.

WARRENTY DOESNT COVER WEAR N TEAR, IF THEY DO IT THEY ARE THICK
Thick? Really?

So do you think that a steering wheel that wears out in less than 18 months of use is reasonable wear and tear then?

Ive got one torn/split too...if they refuse to repair it and put it down to wear and tear, then the wheel in the first place was clearly not of "satisfactory quality", and Ill start quoting Sale of Good Act clauses at them.

Hence why so many people have had them done under warranty already...and rightly so.

My mate had his clutch replaced on his 28k mile SCooper under warranty no question. Its not about wear and tear, its about it lasting a reasonable length of time as well.

My mate just had whole steering wheel replaced because grips were coming off. got in done on warranty its a 52 plate with 31 k miles. Warranty runs out in September so he just got in there!

Its a common fault, had it happen on my one aswell. If you have to pay for a new wheel (thumb grips are not replaceable on there own) your looking at £250+

Mine is the sport wheel but not the original in the car - so I try not to use the grips too much!!

My 172 rubber grips perished just before 3 yr warranty finished.. Renault Arnold clark next to ikea in warrington replaced it no problems.. so it IS covered.. or certainly was a year ago..
