ARGH! Very soggy 172!!!

Got into the car after work and the whole of the passenger side is flooded!!! Theres about 1cm deep of water sloshing round in the front and rear footwells. WTF?! Anyone else had this problem? Cant figure out where the feck its all come from. The cars just been parked up all day. Bugger bugger bugger.

The car is 4 days short of 3 years old. Will it still be under warrenty? It was one of the first 172s in the country so Ive got a feeling it only got a 1 year warranty. Anyone help?!

sh*t mate not good, not sure about the warranty side but waterleaks are a nightmare could be coming from anywhere including a dodgy door or window seal :(

I take it that its rained - this happend to our ZX but it was the heater matrix or something melting itself to death.

We saw the water in the morning and thought it was a seal gone in the window. Then while my GF was driving to work the car filled with hot Steam, then smoke - the elecricts died and she couldnt get the windows down.

I have to admit when she pulled up and there was steam/smoke coming out of all areas of the car I did chuckle (once she was OK) it looked like a scene out of cheach and chong!

bad news mate...

when you dry it all out, why you dont you get someone to hose it with a hose pipe whilst you are sat in the passenger looking for the leak?

Looks like it is still covered. Girlfriend just spoke to Renault Customer Services and they say its got 4 days of its 36 month warranty left. Just hope this is covered. Anyone got a list of whats NOT covered after 12 months?

172s dont have pop out back windows! Obviously not a luxury vehicle like a valver ;) hehe. peasants lol

It specially designed like that for pure aerodynamics.. so that rear passengers dont loose you .1 of a second due to increased drag... honestly..

oh and peasants ... http://www.websmileys.de/wut06.gif
Actually you will find that Valvers and Willies go that fast they need the pop out windows as AIRBRAKES;)

nah its cause they are so unstable on the road after 30mph...

they need the windows as spoilers/rudders to keep the car going in a straight line.

I found the same at lunchtime when I got in mine.

I noticed some water marks on the bottom of the door at the front.

Gotta look now to see what the feck is pnin! It was fine all winter.

@rhys

In Holland Renault has called back several Clio´s because of leaking rubberknob It´s located under the car near the passengers seat.

Maybe this helps.

Good luck mate

hehe, you can steer a valver at high speed by getting the rear passengers to open one or the other of the 1/4 windows depending on which direction you wana go;)

Wet Rubber Knob eh hehe. It looks like its def coming from the bonnet pull thing. Its probably a rubber grommit around the cable thats worked loose or perished cos the bonnets open so much on them 172s with em going wrong so often ;).

The 172s dont have opening back windows to save costs probably hehe. Plus they weigh so much they had to save weight in other areas heheheehehheehehehe.
