Just need somewhere to vent some anger.

A few hundred yards down the road from the office car park tonight I heard an odd noise coming from underneath my car. So I stopped at a petrol station to check it out. It was coming from the left rear, so I had my head down looking at the exhaust, only to spot a bloody great screw in the tyre!!! It was that making the Clio clop horse noise!!

Not a happy bunny. I dont mind replacing tyres if Ive killed them, but this dam tyre has only covered 4k and being on the rear its as new.

Anyway, anyone got a rough idea how much the standard Contisports on a 172 cost from an average tyre sales, Kwik Fit, National etc.

Lee if you take it to your local tyre place they can actually plug the hole for you not sure how much it will cost but it has got to be cheaper than you buying a new tyre!

I got a nail in my 2 weeks old front tyre, was well pissed off, but luckily local tyre place fixed it for £7.

Still awaiting my cheap toyos, from last call with Mytyres seems I should get them in 8 weeks

Thanks.

I was thinking about getting it plugged. I had one tyre which was pretty much a patchwork quilt on my Focus, as the lease company always preferred the cheapest option!!

Im not sure Id be 100% comfortable having one of these plugged though.

I was thinking of having the spare moved, onto the existing rim. Dont ask me why, I just dont want to soil the spare wheel :D

Join the club... That said, I did get the 185/55/15s come through when they said they wouldnt! So a minor victory so far, but the 17s are what I *really* want.

*crosses everything*

I got a nail in one of my tyres about a year ago, took it to the local tyre dudes, 10 mins and £1.50 later it was fixed - no problems since (with the tyre that is)

oh no, bad luck mate. If you live in the south and dont mind waiting for new tyres to be fitted/queing up etc try micheldever tyres near winchester. 01962 774437 . I got 4 eagle f1s fitted plus balancing and tracking adjustment for £200....

Kwik fit repair tyres for free as a goodwill gesture.

If it cant be repaired DO NOT buy from them, its a rip off. Get onto mytyres.net or similar.

Unlucky mate but it happens to us all! My dads got to replace his M3 tyre again after just 2 weeks, and theyre 19inch Michelin Pilots.

I called every tyre place in my area this morning and not one could get a Conti Sport until tomorrow.

In the end I had it repaired. I didnt realise Kwik Fit did it for free!! I always thought they did that on my company car to avoid paperwork!! Dam, I just paid £14. At least its all done and dusted.

I decided to go and check the pressure of the rest of my tyres after it was done. The dam pump at my local Shell station took air out!! So I had to limp to Sainsburys, which has the best pump (and free) in the area. Ive upped the pressures a little and now its feeling a lot more nimble.

Ouch, there was a guy getting a price for some 18"s while I was there. £280 the rears, £200 the fronts!! I considered myself very lucky.

At least the traffic was lighter on my way to work at that time of day, so the car got a dam good thrashing. :D

Kwic fit told me on Saturday that they now charge £13 or something...

Can anyone confirm this ?
