Artic Silver 172

Hi guys. thought I might aswel post up some pictures of the car I picked up a couple of months ago. I bought it off a guy from Edinburgh and not to sure he looked after it too well as you will see. Please excuse the pics they are from an I-phone

79,000 on the clock
It has a cat back scorpion exhaust
It had a K&N induction kit of sometime which has been replaced with a standard airbox and soon to be panel filter
Lowered on apex springs and koni shocks(rear only for some reason)

Discovered a couple of issues with the car

Bodged N/S/F ABS sensor

Whoever done this has fitted the wrong sensor and fitted insulated metal sleeves to try and make a contact, which didn't work so due to this the light should have been on however it wasn't and I soon found out why

The guy has snapped off the bulbs and soldered joints, the lights that are missing are; ABS, SERV, STOP, Airbag and Passenger Airbag off light.

Knowing the airbag light is missing I guessed there was some airbag faults so I went investigating and found the passenger seat had been replaced and the wiring multiplug had been cut off completely and all wires were just left hanging, I have since connected this so that is now by with just waiting on an airbag computer coming in the post soon.

I've not really made any plans as what to do with the car yet but what I will be doing in the near future will be,

Renew all the suspension components
Get rid of the apex springs and koni shock
was thinking of getting eibach sportlines and cup shocks all round
Just put on 4 x Pirelli p zero Nero's
possibly change the exhaust

Might make more plans in a wee while so any suggestions will be taken on board

Wow thats a proper bodge! The previous owner of my old phase 2 172 had done the same thing with the airbag light, I got another set of clocks fitted.

Yeah I know I've got another set of clocks in on a temp basis just now as they are higher mileage so looking for a set as close to the original mileage or i'm going for mileage correction

The ones I fitted were way over but I just made a note of the old mileage and the miles the clocks had done when they were fitted.

Just doing the lights makea a big difference.. Car looks happier already lol

What did you use to the headlights? I used a Quixx kit today and they just still look pants lol!
Only had 2000/3000/5000 superfine grit and some rubbish scratch remover!

i Used the 3M kit worked wonders it uses IIRC 500/800/3000 grit and a polishing compound.

Worked a treat for me good bit of kit for the £18 i paid for it and i still have some of the sandpaper left over

Ahhh right okay then! I could probably do it by hand with a hell of a lot of work? Because the kit came with just 2000 as the lowest grade, and I thought I might need about 800-1000 to start with, I'll try again lol!

Yeah it will take a s**t load of rubbing, if you get the 3M kit you get an attachment for a drill, it saves a lot of hassle, time and no sore arms

Yeah I know but the only thing I'm worried about is messing it up I'd rather get sore arms lmao!
