As good as a viper?

BenP had one, made decent gains.

I don't rate the viper at all. Esp people who run it without a sensible feed.

IMO no induction kit actually makes any difference to performance, maybe a little better throttle response. Open filters (such as the 57i) sound slightly louder / more aggresive & sporty than closed ones (such as the viper). If you have already replaced the factory original it's not really worth spending the extra money on another one as you will not be able to tell the difference - have you got a cold air feed running to your existing filter? You could also try sectioning the filter off from the warmth of the engine with aluminum sheet & cable ties - think you can even buy a proper shield for it - can't think of where at the mo tho. De-cat for £100 instead of new filter??

The feed on it is smaller than a Viper so in theory not as much air will be fed to the filter.... not sure if that will actually equate to any difference in performance.

Yeah I may consider getting some carbon fibre to section off the filter from the engine. I have cold air feed yeah, but want to fit a larger one as my K&N one has become a bit battered.;)

If I had the time I'd buy a second OE airbox and modify it using glassfibre so I could put a cone inside it getting the best of both open/closed systems.

Probbaly a lot of hassle though so I would just stick with the OE airbox and drop in a good panel filter (K&N, Green or ITG).
