Astra Standard Stereo Help

yes, yes, yes... i know this is a clio site but may as well ask anyway as most people on here have had more than one car in their lives!

ive got a 1994 astra and have just had a new alternator fitted. only problem is, the stereo will not even switch on now. i press on and nothing happens. it just stays on the time/date display

anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

hmmm... im thinkin that maybe it isnt the fuse because when you switch the ignition on, the time/date display lights up.

it only lit up before when you turned the radio on

Remote display and stereo could still be on seperate fuses.

thanks guys but just changed the fuse and still no difference...

any other suggestions before i go down to the vauxhall dealer?

cant even get to the stage where it asks for the security code!

i press on/off and nothing happens! i cant even change the time/date on the remote display!

Which fuse did you replace, on the stereo or in the fuse box in the drivers footwell?

yep the interior light works. i replaced the one in the fuse box in the drivers footwell

its strange tho cos the remote display is lit up with the time/date as soon as i turn the ignition on. but even the time/date setting buttons dont do anything! at the moment, its 17th july, 2046! lol
