All,

If you now needed 4 new tyres for youre can would you get the standard 195s or opt for 205s as on the 182?

Also does anyone reckon its worth going the whole hog and oping for Mic Pilot Exalto 2s? or stay with the standard Contis.

I fave Goodyear Eagles but Im not sure what Id do.

go for 205s , will handle better, but check if they fit.

Exaltos are v.good imo but very expensive at around 140 a tyre!!

what about trade? I could get em trade I think

Are you the only person whos done it?

M8 has just had 4 exalto 2 195s on his Cup.

Hes thrilled with them. Far better than the OE conties

Cost him just under £100 per corner

i went for uniroyal rainsport 195s. Am very pleased with them after getting used to them. Handle great in the dry and fantastic in the wet. £49 a corner to. Cost me just over £210 for all four and fitting! was well chuffed

  Weeman sucks ****

If I could Id go back to the contis again, Ive had GS-D3s all round and not convinced by them...so if anyone wants 4 at a good price then let me know??

I have 215/40 on the front of my cup with std contis on the back. With the eibachs fitted its really good and getting better the more miles you put on them. With the 195s 1st and second gear corners just get the tyres smoking (hence dont last long) with the 215s there is very little wheelspin and the banging under wheelspin has gone !!!!

If you do go this way tyre pressures are important i have tried many setting but 35 at the front and 33 at the back is the best.

Tyres are A539 need 500 miles to bed in but getting better day by day £52 from mytyres. But to be honest next time i will try a different tyre but same size, for the sake of seeing if there is better.

On a standard wheel 215/40 any wider and they rub and taller 215/45 they rub.

Mine dont rub at all with eibachs fitted. 172 Cup

Do it, you wont be disapointed !!!!

Evogone, whats your ride quality like compared to when u had the 195s/normal springs? Im almost definately going down the route of putting some sportlines on and when the tread wears out i was going to replace them with 215/40 like you have. Im curious as to the difference in ride quality, i.e. how much more noticable are bumps (not that the current setup is soft) do you have any issues going over those high bumps which are just wide enough to drive straight over them with a slight bump?

No real noticeable difference in ride quality, honestly. In fact it feels more comfortable and more stable its a lot more sure footed. I have Yoko A539 which are good in the dry but crap in the wet so i would recommend a different brand but the same size.

Which eibachs have you got and i assume you are on standard dampers? Im very close to getting my eibachs but just not sure if i want to go for sportline or pros, like the idea of the lowering of sportline, but then pros do lower it although a little less.... just not sure yet.

I have the pros, was thinking of the sports lines myself but went for the more subtle. It does lower it after it settles and the handling is much improved. Main advantages are that it reduces the torque steer, body roll and its a lot less nervous especially over bumps. High speed stability if your on the motorway is the biggest difference though.

Either option you will be happy with.

Another scenario (for my future upgrades):

215/40 R16 on standard rims with Eibach Sportlines - will this rub? (on a 172 mk2)

Im also very tempted by springs but as yet havent decided which ones. Tyres Ill upgrade when the current ones wear out.

I have this combo on my old clio and it works a treat, NO RUBBING AT ALL.....

On my Cup i have Eibach pros and 215/40 16s NO RUBBING...
