Attention V6 Owners

Found this on the Resnaultsport forum

Just received a safety recall, quote; There is a risk that the "SERV" warning light illuminates, with a possible difference between engine speed expected by the driver and the actual engine speed obtained, which may affect vehicle safety. To resolve this issue please contact your Renault Dealer, who will reprogramme the engine injection computer.

I wonder what "a possible difference between engine speed expected by the driver and the actual engine speed obtained" means?

I hope it means that when I have been reving to 7000rpm its really been less and not MORE, but have a feeling it may mean more....?? bloody Renaults...

Got my letter yesterday. My cars running like a dream, last thing I want is for them to "Reprogramme" my car.

Probably end up thinking its a Digibox or something:sick:

I agree. Ive only had my Vee a little over a month and I cant say I really want to entrust it to my local Renault garage to reprogram when *touch wood* its running sweetly.

Whats the score with recalls? Do you -have- to have it done? Does it invalidate anything if you dont? Is there a time frame for having it done?

Not sure?

I dont think it would invalidate your warrenty, but if (god forbid) somebodies V6 did propel itself into a wall and this fault was to blame, its probably Renaults get of jail card.

They offered you the chance to fix the safety issue, you declined. Your problem.

Just got my letter .. im hoping that they move the 7k limit up a bit more.. it seems to come on cam about 6.5 k .. then the fuel management leans the fuel so it dies and you have to change gear.

anyone actually been in yet ?? results???

a recall on the crap calibration of the fuel gauge is also required me thinks !! i mean if the rev counter is a safety issue then the fuel gauge should be too .. if it is reading incorrectly !!

If affects only certain V6 255s. The engine revs could fluctuate and thats what it means with a difference in revs. It needs sorting out so, yes you do have to go to a dealer.

just do a control-alt-del, that should sort it. Failing that, try left horn button, right horn button and stomp the brake peddle twice. ;)

Given that my dealer still doesnt have the software to recognise my car, I really hope mine is not on the recall list.

I think its marvellous how Renaults dealers inspire such confidence in there customers:D

Well just been in touch with my local Renault dealer and they inform me that this has already been carried out in December while my car was in having the rear wheels aligned.....seems Renault UK are a little behind with their paper work....;)

Simon:D

rectification is about an hour and a half
Lets hope my local dealer doesnt insist on having the car all day to "field test" the upgrade.

Jeremy - are the dealers able to do this as a book/turn up & wait job?

Jeremy when did Renault UK know of this V6 problem?

My Local Renault garage said they did mine while it was in last, which was Dec 20th 2004. approx 4 weeks ago?

I only got the Recorded delivery the other day.

Simon.
