ATTN: people who have taken their clio to the 'ring

Dont time. Simple.

Playing back the video, my 5th and final lap was about 9.30

I don't really care about the time, just having fun and doing my best not to bin it, which is easy to do if you're not careful!

i know of a pretty much standard 205 mi16 clocking just under 9 minutes for comparison ;)

Its not a race.

You drive it for fun, so just do it like a B road you dont know.

Or you will crash. At which point, ill give you £500 for your 172, so i can break it for parts.

You may drive it for fun, maybe he wants to do it for the time

i wouldnt time it and i wouldnt advise it but lots of people do

IIRC I did about a 9:20 in a standard 172.... On GranTurismo4.

In real life it'd probably more like 15 minutes. I'd be terrified of binning it.

I did a 5 minute lap in my 172...

Don't time it, thats how accidents happen..

you soon get the mind set of "ohh I can take that corner a little quicker, screeccchhh, wallop, BANG.. oh, my car is written off 1500 miles from home"

I would go and enjoy the drive, as said take it like a b road and just have fun, dont time it or take it too seriously because you may end up well out of pocket....

oh and btw, not meaning to scare you but if you wright off your car and they have to close the track.... its MEGGA and i mean MEGGA expensive (your talking well into the thousands iirc), and your insurance company wont cover you for track closure.

First time i went my mate said..... "Chris.......first lap, take it steady use it as a sighting lap......."

Afterwards the said "What the f**k happened halfway round......"

To which i replied "I'd seen enough"

I did some timing and clocked a 10.05 BTG in a Yaris T Sport.....

At the end of the day though just go for the lulz, you'd have as much fun in a rascal van, watch out for bikers..... and watch out for Deutsch Helden in 911's

I would be going very slow but would get my passenger to time it just out of curiosity more than anything else. certainly wouldn't be risking my car/life just to shave a few seconds off my time. I wrote of my first car and apparently was lucky to walk away alive never mind completely uninjured so I know its no laughing matter.

8.44 is possible

Not much point timing it though. Just go and have some fun but be careful

I went in august on the way back from a beer festival! Did 4 laps in my 172 and timed them all. I just think it's nice to know. I'd just say don't be looking at the clock all the way round, trying to go a little quicker as you are down on the previous lap! just see what the time is at the gantry.

From my experience it is near impossible to get a 'clean lap'. You have yellow flags, slower cars - including vans, and some slow and fast bikes. There is loads to watch out for, without looking at a stopwatch. My fastest was a 9:50 - so I was just pleased to be sub 10mins - although on a quiet track you could be a lot faster.

It is a fantastic place and I'll be going back. It's not so scary (although the foxhole at speed is!). I'd recommend playing the track on Gt4 with a clio - but only do it without touching any kerbs. It teaches you which way the corners go at least.

LOL at learning it on GT4!

Do this and you WILL die! If your going fast enough, this will not help.

Trust me, i went round with Tony Ho and Ullis (think thats how you spell it, hes an AMG test driver based in adenau), and that was their advice.

Well from Bridge to Gate/gantary my best lap was 9.33 and that was my 18th lap of going round the ring.

Allthough its banned, the best thing to do is film it then you can just drive as fast as you like with in your limits and at the end of the day you can sit down and watch your video and see the lines you've been taking and talk about what you could do better. You can also work out your time too.

Main thing is to go there, go round have fun and get home safe.

Forgot to set the timer at the gate...

Touristefahrten is not about setting records, more like a nice info; you think you really are motoring, untill a GT3 or M3 CLS swings along.

GT4 can help... but in real life some parts do look exactly the same.
Crashing is the last thing you want to do.
(look up the expenses sheet for; armco replacement, towing etc.)
