Trying to connect this cable

to a 2001 renault clio, plugged the yellow plug into the yellow plug on the car, and the phono plug to the remote control on the sony unit, but the remote control still does nothing, any ideas?

The cables are a pc9-101 and a pc9-205 autoleads suggest this is correct for the car.

not that ive fitted these cables before myself, but does that red cable need to be connected to a live ?....and it has 2 wires so it can be used as a pass through aswell so you dont need to cut anything ?

tried connecting it to the live on the headunit and using it as a passthrough didnt seem to do a lot
