[Aus content] Biggest RS drive day so far...

  130i Road, 172 Track
A friend and I decided it had been to long since OZRS had had their last drive day, so we posted on the forum proposing June 17 and an epic route, heading north of Sydney to the Hunter wine region via all the fun roads.

http://goo.gl/maps/dvAx (this map doesn't take into account the extra 30-45mins for me to and from the meet spot!)

Well, we didn't expect such a huge response but people kept saying, "I'm in" and we ending up booking breakfast in the Hunter for 41 at a cafe! On the day, we had a few extras turn up and the cafe said they couldn't fit, so the total number would have been up around 50 people with about 40 cars. It was huge :w00t:

A few of us met at 5:30 for a cruise out to the meet spot:

It was impossible to capture just how many cars turned up! (That's my 197 on the right):

Waiting for the ferry at Wisemans Ferry (yes, that's us all the way down the road and around the corner):

The ferry holds 24 and we had 22 spots the first time round and another almost full on the second ferry!

Wow thats impressive. We would never get the roads empty enough over here to organise anything on that scale, anything more than about 5 cars gets hard to manage with traffic getting in the way :(

After breakfast, everyone stuck around and chatted all things RS and cars for an hour or so, before people started to make their way home either via the highway, or via the windy, inland road on the famous Putty Road. Of course, I took the later option and enjoyed it immensely! I got home at 3pm after waking up at 5am. Was an amazing day, everyone was well behaved. We had minimal traffic and perfect weather. Couldn't ask for more really!

Now, just some shots from the RS car park:

Looks like you all had an awesome day out!

Really wish we had the use of those kind of roads in the UK.

Thanks for the comments. Was a great day!

It was really difficult to capture just how many cars were there but I think you can get the gist from the photos above!

  Suzuki Jimny
Awesome pictures!

Aren't the renaultsport cars stupidly expensive in Australia? I think I remember reading that a standard 172 was something like the equivalent of £5000

What?! When I lived over there in Sydney (only 5 months) I only ever saw one Renaultsport!! Better roads and better petrol prices, jealous!

  M135i and the shed
To all the people wishing we had roads that quiet in the UK, we do. It's called Scotland. You might have heard of it. ;) :rasp:

Pics look great by the way. It's always nice to get a good turnout for a drive. Norfbest don't do badly on that front I reckon.

  An orange one
That is brilliant! I would love a proper run like that over here!

Vee looks great with the stripes over it!

^ anthra packs denote the higher spec 'Cup Trophee' model over here. Basically, FF with Cup pack, different wheels and a few extras: Recaros, keyless entry etc.

It was the same for both 200s and 250s, except for the special editions which had varying colour and trim combos.

Lol Renault you thieving b******s :p

Over here the ff includes the cup packs. Then you have to spec recaros and the Anth pack. I think all but the cups come with keyless entry here

Come to think of it, all 200s in Aus were FF with Cup packs. The Trophee got Recaros and anthra pack + keyless etc.
