i have the chance to get a Authentique 1.2 in green for around £4k hopefully

but whats the best model spec wise,

Cheers if u can Help :)

nice one

is a 1.2 16v ok drive wise or does it strain? or is 1.4 16v best route to go

i had a 1.4 16v r100 b4 u see so dont really wanna drop down in power

  BMW 118d

Authentique was only a 1.2 8v whereas the dynamique is 1.2 16v, and a better spec. Had an authentique but then upgraded to a dynamique. Loads better.

go for dynamique, sporty comfier, more kit and youll always wonder what its like, go for 1.4 if you can, or better still go for a 172;)

dynamique it is then

1.2 or a 1.4 or is there not much difference?

Edit: ok 1.4 16v dynamique it is :D

1.4 16v is 98bhp the 1.2 16v is 75bhp, it would have been the 1.4 for me if i hadnt got a years free insurance when i bought my 1.2.

thanks for the offer

but i am trading in a toyota avensis and cash for a new as possible clio

but cheers for the offer

Thanks once again for the help

this forum is superb and speedy

id love a 172 but all i plan to do is get some 172 alloys 16" and stick them on a 1,4 16v, as i have 6 points on my liscence already, 4 yrs and one month ban and 6 point for speeding, lol, dont think 172 is a good idea for me

might have it lowered, but no modding for me from nowon lose to much in the past :(

im with the woolwich, id go for 1.4 then good balance between performance and economy

yup agree on the 1.4 comments, its a very under-estimated engine, rather nippy! .... did i mention mines up for sale soon? ;)

My other half recently bought a 51 pre-reg Authentique 1.2. My mum recently bought an 04 registered Dynamique 1.2 16V.

I drive both quite a lot and would say that you may as well buy a Dynamique as they were only £500 more second hand when my other half was buying her Authentique. Thing is, the Authentique has all the stuff she wanted - and she didnt need alloys, sportier seats and so on. All the important stuff like airbags, ABS and electrics are standard!

Theres very little difference IMO between the 1.2 60bhp engine and the 75bhp 16V version. I have also driven the 1.4 - and think the differnece is a lot more noticeable.

Overall, both the cars handle and ride extremely well. They both just seem to leap over potholes and rough surfaces, where a lot of other cars just crash and jarr. Both appear well built beyond minor trim rattles.

Do look out for the new offers on the Dynamique. My parents could afford to pay cash - and cannily took an option where although you pay interest, the overall amount payable is still the list price. They then paid back the "loan" after one month and essentially got a brand new 1.2 Dynamique with air con, CC, sunroof and metallic paint for £8,000 (rather than £10,600).

I have both 182 and the dynamique 1.2 16v but recently when 182 was in for service I got an authentique from the dealer as cover - all I can say is dont touch it with a barge pole. The Authentique was ridiculously slow - there can be no comparison between the authentique and the dynamique.

The Dynamique handles better (alot) it is quicker (feels alot - especially at 70 - 80 acceleration much better) it has nicer seats (a variation of the RS ones) Infact, the car is so different that im not even sure that the authentique can be regarded as a proper clio.

I struggled for 1 week with that authentique ( 182 was in for service, v70 off the road and the women had the dynamique) what I would have given to get my paws back on the dynamique - especially as I do a lot of motorway driving.

In a nutshell - the 1.2 authentique is so slow it seemed dangerous to me (8v w.t.f in the year 2000+) AVOID:D

right

so my mind is made up, dynamqiue it is, as i want alloy sportier seats and ride anyways

just gotta keep my eyes peeled for a 1.4 16v then it seems,

Cheers all very helpful bunch

have i got my facts right

1.2 16v is a group 3

1.4 16v is a group 5

whats a 1.6? and tbh i have not seen many 1.6 available, so either they must of not been many made or theyre tht good ppl do not sell them lol

ALSO ppl, i can only post every 3 minutes apperently, do i have to jion the club to rectify this? or do i have to be registered on here for a period of time before this 3 minute malarky changes??

The 1.6 is a very rare engne as they sold less 1.6 in thr UK than 172s.

Id definatly recomend the 1.4 if it not much extra.

you should maybe think about an xtreme 1.2 16v??? its 6995 and basically same as a dynamique without alloys

VTRs are what 98/100bhp, the 1.4 16v clio is 98bhp so not alot in it, i mean the older are VTRs are 8v! VTRs aint quick, the VTS on the other hand is a different story!

Yes the 1.6 16v clio maybe more rare, but........for the extra money itll cost to buy and insure it, it isnt worth it IMO.

go for the 1.4 if you could but if your looking for a 1.2 the guy aboves right look for a second hand extreme.it isnt missing anything from the 1.2 dynamique but if you get one on a 51-03 you do still get the 15inch alloys and you get the greeny sort of interior,i know its matter of taste and its a bit gay but its still the nicest interior in any clio for me!

  ST

Do the extremes have elec heated mirrors, auto lights/wipers?

I have a 53 1.2 16v dynamique billabong.

yeah the extreme has the lights wipers etc everything i can think of,i think the olny thing its missing over the dynamique is on the 1.4 dynamique air con is standard possibly?also the extreme you can get in one of the nicest colours of the range if you want(limited to the extreme)and you get the interior to match the colour, greeny sort of aqua.

the billabong was basically the new extreme they started to sell this interior with that as well so that might be worth considering.

the new extreme isnt up to as much and youd pay more so not really worth it

From someone that owns a 1.4 16v, Ive gotta say you cant go wrong with them, the speed from it is all that you want (Ive had 110mph before without a problem) All the extras make it a very worthwhile car to buy in every aspect.

ive got a 1.4 16v its very nippy, a lot better than the 1.2s its very noticeable, dont get an authentique cos they are very basic and the 8v is very slow. 1.6 is group 10 insurance compared to group 5 for the 1.4, it only has and extra 10 bhp and is not that noticable performance wise from a 1.4 and the insurance difference isnt worth it mate. 1.4 all day, privilege if u can get one ;)

situation is my mrs dad runs a place he can get me what i want

but i cant be too fussy as itll be from action

so i will have a dynamique 1.2 or 1.4

depends which is cheasper in all honesty

soon as i have one ill join up the site

Cheers for all ur help everyone

well i have had a qoute for £550 for 1.2 or £650 for a 1.4

so 1.4 it will be but it all depends whats available etc

i dont really mind what i have either way as long as i get a dynamique

has anyone got any pictures of the interior of this model?

Ive been trying to find a 04 1.4 dynamique for about 3 months, still no luck.

The 1.2 are everywhere but cant find a 1.4 !!!

Can anyone help ?

  BMW e46 320 Ci Sport

out of the two get a 1.4.

as for the comments about the 1.6 well all i will say is despite the vtr being 8v it overpower a 1.4 16v. the 1.6 makes all the difference. Sure the insurance group is higher but my quotes didnt chnage that much when i queried a 1.4 and 1.6 from liverpool victoria.

Reason i went for the 1.6 was cause i had a choice 1.4 in black or for the same price a 1.6 in nautical blue. i know i made the right decsion.

  Used to have a Clio

hey - whats wrong with the expression???
and i believe you cant get much options for the extreme! at least thats what it says on the brochure! thats why i went for the expression a/c!

well i dont mind 1.2 or a 1.4

i really dont mind what model i have either, but if i have a choice i want a dynamique 1.4 16v

but as long as i get a newish clio il be a happy man
