autoleads adapter

right ive just bought a second hand autoleads PC9-101 stalk adapter for my r19 and sony HU. its the same lead as for clio valvers (and all clios of that age i think).

When i plug it in, the stalk doesnt work, and the controls on the front of the HU itself stop working. Anyone know whats up?

Theres a single red trailing wire with a male and female bullet connector on the adapter which i cant see anywhere to plug it in, is this important?

its power, youll have to tap it from somewhere, i.e the ISO connector on the headunit.

oh right... i have to start cutting and bodging. was hoping it wouldnt come to that
