Automatic Lights on 182!!

Hi, Just a quick post to see if anyone knows if you can switch the automatic lights on your car on or off, they randomly stopped switching themselves on when it gets dark, this happened before as well, apparently you can switch the auto mode on or off!

Using the stalk

Turn them from off to side lights twice consecutively with the ignition on and engine stopped. Should beep to let you know its changed.

I've looked in the book, but can't find how to switch OFF the automatic wipers.

Do the same as you do you to switch them on. Turn the lights to side lights twice in a row whilst ignition is on but not the engine,a beep will sound to let you know its done.

no, just turn the sensitivity down, then use them manually.

No there isn't, Auto locking and Auto Lights yes, but wipers not without removing the sensor or something.

Whats the problem with the auto lights and wipers? I find them very good, and had no problems with them??

No problem with them! i turned them off and cant figure out how to put them back on again, and the book is missing in action.

itd be great to turn off the additional 'wipe' that the car does when the windscreen washers are deployed, it wipes 3 times (or so) and then about 10 secs later wipes once more and 9/10 it streaks the windscreen, so in other words its useless

The auto wipers on our Clio 182 are cr@p! Even on the most sensitive setting they sometimes give almost blind vision before they wipe.

A couple of 'old' MG ZT's I owned had auto wipe and they were excellent.

I don't like the auto lights. Too many tunnels and underpasses around Newcastle. They come on straight away going into a tunnel but don't go off for about 30 seconds after leaving tunnel.

Plus soon as I turn engine on they blaze into my neighbours window.

Wish I could turn off the auto rear wiper sweep when I've left the wipers on. Back window is usually dry when I reverse on to drive.

The auto wipers are rubbish sometimes, it has to be chucking it down before they come on or ur view has to be blind before they come on.

I like the Front ones and auto lights though.

I have my auto lights turned off, i think it would annoy me having them switch themselves on if i didn't want them on, like as Chris says, going in tunnels etc, it doesn't really bother me turning them on and off myself!

Auto lights are cool but you can keep the wipers.My golf tdi has an intermitant switch that has 3 settings which works much better to adjust to the rain,half the time i cant see s**t before the clio works and thats on full tilt too
