Aux Belt noise?

  BG 182
Hi Chaps,

Been on the forum a while but just lurking :nomouth: (Blackpool/Lytham area)

Had the belts done at Birchdown back in April time, all was good untill this noise stared up a few days ago.

I think it's the water pump bearing but not totally sure? Definatly doesn't sound like the dephaser, its almost too metalicy for it to be that?!

Any help appreciated!

Here it is.

Take the aux belt off and fire it up, if it dosnt make noise then you know its something driven by the aux belt, and with it off you can give allthe components a spin to see whats damaged...

Just dont run it for long as you wont be running the water pump

I'd say that's the water pump making that noise .
Once the belt is off , a check of all the pulleys will reveal an issue of some sort .

It should be okay but never say never. I've just finished rebuilding a head for a 182 which bent valves after the water pump shat itself, allowing the aux belt in to the timing case
