AUX/CAM BELT REPLACED TOGETHER SAVED ME £££

If your 36k service is due when your car is all but five years old then getting the CAM/AUX belts done together will save you ££.

My CUP is five years old in December but is due its 36k service next month.


I planned to have the AUX belt done with an A service as sugested and was quoted just under £400 by my local specialist.

I was going to wait until December to have the CAM belt done but the Guy advised me to have the CAM belt done at the same time and quoted me £550.00 all in.

Told me it takes less time to do them together than it does to do one at a time.

Main stealer quoted me £450 for AUX belt + A service and £680.00 for the CAM + service.

Forgot to ask how much for both together but it must be less.

Main dealer had no idea the AUX belt should be changed at 36K:S

just make sure the garage is capable of doing the cambelt change as the timing procedure is too complex for some local garages.

They are a french car specialist so should be good for the job.


Surly most decent garages should be able to do the job??

I've spoken to a couple of garages and they won't touch the 172/182/trophy. as long as they have the specialist tools then it's fine.
sorry, didn't know the garage you spoke of was a renault specialist.

same here mate, did a quote for the cambelt which was 450 then with aux belt it was 480 with ashbycars - clio specialist, and they give you a courteousy car!

whack in some cams, and save even more $$ (if you were thinking about putting in cams)
