Auxiliary belt question

  Clio 182
General question regarding the Auxiliary belt.
K-tec supply two belts. one which is the belt alone with no kit (non air con) and the other is the complete kit with the belt (air con) and between them there is a massive price difference.

Does this mean that if my clio doesnt have air con i can only buy the belt whereas if i did have air con i would need the complete kit, costing me a lot more?

Reason i am asking this is because i will be needing the 36k service carried out and i was just looking into the costs of the Aux belt and timming belt. Renault have quoted me roughly £750 for both including labour.

cheers

The air con models use a very expensive tensioner, which isn't on the non air con model. This needs to be replaced with the belt change. If it breaks you risk taking out the timing belt as well cause the Aux belt will probably wind around the crank and lock it!

How old is the car? If it's over 4 you should be looking at replacing the timing belt as well!

its 54 plate. will be having that done as well but if the aux belts going to be cheaper then thats all the better. how will i know if this has air con (silly question) but my previous car had no air con and that was vauxhall.

edit. and i pick this up on saturday and the advert doesnt state air con either.

You will have an aircon button in the car...

Or ask the seller if it has aircon.

lol at £750!

Where do you live? i'd go to a well known company on here.

Personally i'd do the whole kit.

has the cambelt been done?

it has air con. can this be removed along with the tensioner? tbh i can live without air con.
