.avi To DVD?

Say if i were to download a .avi film what is the best software to write it to dvd so that it could be played on a bog standard dvd player?

ive been doing this for a few years now, the best ive come across and use all the time is TMPGEnc DVD Author 3.

You can get a copy if you know how to use Bit Torrent which im sure you do ;)

Load AVI, create menus if you want, split into tracks, burn. It will then play in normal players.
 
One thing I realised some time ago is that not all apps appear to to be able to convert the 5.1 audio from Xvids etc. that contain such a soundtrack. This is a consideration if you are using such files and have a surround system hooked up to your DVD player.

there is a proggie called avi2dvd
and its the best one-click solution around.

If the DVD player supports DivX then there's no need to convert it. Just burn it to CD/DVD.

That's what I always use. Then I just use Imageburn to drop the image onto a disk. It even works under Vista Ultimate 64!!.
