Axle Stands

Hi,

F**k knows if this is in the right section, but I couldn't really find anywhere else to put it.

Anyway, I got my first half decent jack for my birthday a couple of weeks ago as I need to do a few bits and bobs on the car. I don't really trust just having the jack under the car so I'm looking to get a set of axle stands.

Are they all pretty much the same? Where is the best place where I can readily get hold of them? Halfords?

Halfords do 2 tonne sets of 2 at 18 quid iirc. A set of 4 is part of the essentials!

Your local motor factors will be doing them too and probably cheaper.

Yes, I don't see the point personally if you have a decent jack.

I'll probably only use them on the lowest that they can go but these seem to be higer on the lowest setting than the others.

Try to avoid buying them from halfords, motorfactors will undoubtedly be better quality and cheaper.

Just had a search for motorfactors in my area (LOL) and I can't find any half decent ones

But what do you deem as a "decent" motorfactor?

My local "pokey" little one is amazing.

Just searched on google and none came up that even sold stuff like axle stands. Although, thinking about it, there is a little one about 2 mins from me. Never been in but I'll give it a try, see if they sell 'em before going to halfords.
