Back again: looking for a 172 ph1

  FormulaFord Ecoboost
Hi guys, back again!
I've been lurking in the shadows for a while as I was going to buy a 172 but had to postpone.
I'm back on the market for one but prices seem a little bit more buoyant than before.
Anyway, if anyones seen any 172 ph1s that would be suitable for converting to a road legal track day. It'll also be used for the odd commute (a couple of miles).

Ideally I'd like something mechanically sound but I don't mind doing some work to it.

Cheers again for your help

Would anybody like to comment on this car?

Seems to fit what I need? When it says 'tappety' is this likely to be something that can be fixed for <£500. What do you think?

Cheers

I really wouldnt, it could be the start of somthing majorly serious.

Buy a mint one thats been cherished, dont let miles put you off, they get better with more, however, maintenance is an absolute must.

If hes admitting to the engine tapping, what else could be wrong?

Thanks guys, much appreciated. It's one of those times when it could be the bargain of the century or horrendously expensive.

I'd like to spend around £1500 quid, I'm not fussed if the interior is tatty, I'm also not bothered if there are things that need replacing like suspension, brakes, etc as they will all be replaced soon anyway.

Thanks again

I live in Bristol btw and have family in Cumbria so travel isn't too inconvenient... so long as the car I buy can make it home again!

Spend £500 more, it'll save you money in the long run as you won't get a rust bucket

Than my £1500 budget? I could do I suppose but for the right car... it would have to be right to justify spending extra, like a few tasteful mods (that I would have done anyway).

I don't mind people bringing their adverts to my attention, either here or via PM.

Cheers

Go for it mate, aye its a marmite colour but trust me, O*Z f1's look superb on them ;)

If you know where to look, you will find one you really want.

Also, if its a few miles out of reach it might be worth while to ask a member local to it to check it out, the opinion of someone not buying its bound to be an honest one!
