Back box + water = steam engine?

Thought so, it normally does it for 5 mins though... not after 30 mins with a warmed up engine. Ah well.

Doesn't matter if the engine is warm or not, if it's just sat there then it's not getting flushed out properly.

Needs a proper blast.

Can't believe how much people get concerned over this, pretty sure every car i've had has been the same.

i want that exhaust please!
what is it?

Completely 100% stock. Just in a barn so it was reverberating more. It'd been rattling and dropped on one side so I swapped the mounts & sorted out the heat shield rattle with larger washers.

It's cause I'd just changed the oil and straight after it did that. In reality its probably something to me leaving the arse in the air on ramps for 2 days. :approve: I was more concerned with how much water was in there, not that it was doing it.

This is why standard exhaust's eventually rot, when I changed mine, when it was tipped up, about a litre of water came out of it.

Ha wait until you see how rusted and nasty my back boxes are, I'll take a picture some time. The center section was replaced by the previous owner. Cat seems to be okay. Back boxes are rusted to hell, peeling away and very nearly blown right through.

I found some back boxes for sale from a 182 that someone is breaking. Is it something that's fine to buy used? Checked diagolys and its ~£495 for new!

think a few people would s**t themselves if they took a stock 182 system off and turned it on it's end. Most of them have a good half litre of water come out

This is where I got the price from. Was quoted the same over the phone by a local Renault specialists?

In simple terms.

Exhaust gases from incomplete combustion = CO + HC (Carbon monoxide + hydrocarbon).
The cat turns it into CO2 and H2O (Carbon dioxide + water)

The more miles a car does (long journies) the longer the exhaust will last in general. Some exhauts have a drain hole in the back box

Looks like that is only the back boxes.

Yeah that's all that needs replacing on mine. This one I've found is £50 and the guy was given it by his 'mate' for his 182 but then didn't want it cause he had a stainless steel one. Or something like that. There's not a spot of rust on it.

In two minds about getting something aftermarket or just splurging the £495. Ugh.
