Back in the 172 ..... eventually

As some of you may remember my fan belt went a while back tangled up in the timing belt and bent all the valves. Well £750 and just over 2 months later shes back on the road.

Amongst the mechanic loosing the engine bolts and hydrolic lifters, lying to me on a weekly basis and not keeping me informed of prices along the way its been a nightmare but im finally back in the 172 needless to say my business with be going somewhere else next time.

So hello and il get a few pics up of the ways shes sitting later :)

yes i remember ur thread, not long after my pretensioner failed and my cambelt slipped bending 8 valves lol, glad u finally got it sorted, u can start enjoying her again, break her in gently lol;)

It's transverse, so there's no fanbelt... unless it's an A-Series. :p

Accessory belt and Cambelt.

Glad it's all back up and running mate.

At least its over dude, just had engine failure myself there. Engine turned up the other day, hopefully have it in midweek.

I can sympathise with the PITA it is

Must feel brilliant mate!

My aux belt went at the beginning of the week,the car runs so im hoping no valve damage but we shall find out on monday!

I'm pretty sure by your rights that if they don't inform you about prices and parts that you can refuse to pay for them. They should always tell you what there doing and ask if your happy for them to go ahead with it.

EDIT: I'm sure you just happy any ways to have the car back now and no more F'in about :)

Does the engine feel tight with all that work? Hopefully it will feel like new.

Tbh the engine was always in good nick up to that point so noticing a difference is hard esp after 2 months of not driving it.

The fellas been a friend for years and im not gonna fall out with him im just gonna give my business to someone else and hope it doesnt happen again. And yeah im well chuffed :)
