bah.. not engine mounts.. its the gearbox

the knocking noise on my X 172 is not the engine mounts.. its the diff in the gearbox (according to the garage)

They say new gearbox + fitting = 1.5K
Now options:
Second hand gearbox and get non Renault to put it on ... costs?
Can I get a garage to fix the issue in the gearbox?
Where can i get a second hand gearbox from? and the cost?

Get the yellow pages out and find a gearbox specialist in your area, cheaper to get it rebuilt.

I thought about that.. but could it get to where they cannot fix it.. then have to get a new on it.. and that costs a ton more?
