ballast testing

hello ,basically can someone tell me is it ok to test my clio 182 standard headlight ballast from my 12v battery charger before i fit it to my car.as ive just bought it and want to test it.its a Hella 5dv 008 290-00 .not to clued up with these xenons .any help appreciated.thaks.

So long as it's providing 12v I dont see why not. How are you planning on testing it though?

I have a harness for it and plan to wire up to that and then igniter with bulb in.but was just making sur a battery charger wont damage it .thanks

Yeah, should be alright so long as the ballast is getting a steady 12v
