No it wasnt banned prior to purchase she has played online with it but once her membership ran out she didnt bother renewing it so then when mine got the 3 red rings i thought i would use hers whent to set it up and it would not connect tested connection still no joy tried again and message came up saying it was banned and no i did not modify it you would have know this if you had read all the posts
All I am saying is, if the xbox was modded when you bought it, or modded at some point prior to you buying it, when your daughter connected to XBL for the very first time, it would have been instantly banned.
You have already conceded this wasnt the case and therefore its safe to assume it has been banned for something you have done whilst owning it.
If the contrary is true, then you still havea couple of options, here we go:
1. Call the shop and threaten trading standards. If you are persistant and forceful they will back down, hopefully...
2. Seeing as you have a fairly useless console, I personally would do this. If you have the newer elite, get hold of the older PSU (higher wattage) plug it in and fire it up whilst wrapping it in some towels. This will cause the GPU to overheat and should cause RROD...then take it back and they will HAVE to replace it as you have proof of purchase, if not, MS will take it in and repair it, meaning you get a new motherboard and unbanned MAC address...
If that sounds like a hassle, just sell it and pay the difference...but I really would be as much of a pain in Graingers Games side as possible, id be making posters saying they sell modding consoles etc and putting them up outside....
The customer, is ALWAYS right...
