Battery conections

My battery has been playing me up alot recently.

It turns out its the negative conection on it. Is there anyway i can make this conection any better as the car keeps refussing to start.

Also the negative wire keeps getting really hot!

Can i change the connections? How much would it cost to do?

Anyone?

Looks like i need to crimp a new negative conector. Anyone know where id get a crimp and a crimper to do it?

get some 4 gauge cable get some crimps for a electrical wholesaler for 25mm2 cable and use a hammer to crimp it on

Dont need the cable, enough slack on the bit i have. But cant really hammer the crimp on as have nothing to hammer it against.

a brick a kerb anything the crimps are only made of copper so are soft

god i sound like a rough arsed sparkie:D

The cable isnt going to reach the kerb, and i brick still needs to be on something solid.

Battery terminal is more realistic, and the way i feel about the battery with all the probs its causing at the moment its a very tempting idea.

The crimp still needs to have a battery terminal on it? Will mose electrical shops have these? or halfords?

the negative lead will have a crimp on the end that will be seperate from the clamp for the negative post of the battery

i wouldnt hit the negative post with anything as i believe they are made of lead and very soft

best option is f**k off the w**k renault screw on connections and get some proper battery clamps, cut off the gay crimped connectors and bare the wire and use the clamp type terminals which are about 50p each!

its prob hot due to high resistance/sh*t connection! cut the end off and get a -ve terminal from a car place. u can buy ones which srew onto the bare wire (they not that reliable tho!) ideally u need to crimp one on. Prob need a hydraulic crimping set
